Our Instructors

All of our instructors are qualified horse people who are interested in teaching their knowledge and sharing their experiences.

Horses

Our instructors can coach you on your own horse or you can take a lesson on one of our

school horses.

UNDER 7 Lesson Program (35 weeks)

Students who are under the age of 7 are eligible for our private lesson program.  This program is also guided by the fundamentals of the Equine Canada Rider levels.

Individual Lessons

We encourage students to participate in our Group Lesson Program but those students who wish to take a private lesson outside our program are welcome but will be charged $80 (plus gst).  These lessons are 30 min.  Please contact our office at 604-574-5481 for further information and lesson times.

Lesson Duration

Both our Group Lesson and Under 7 Lesson Program are 60 minutes which includes grooming, tacking and riding.   Lessons are scheduled back to back, so unfortunately, late students will get less time in the saddle.   In addition, all equipment needs to be cleaned and put away properly.

Proper Attire

A proper riding helmet, boots with a walking heel (one inch minimum) and long pants are required for all riding lessons.  Helmets can be supplied by Twin Rivers but students looking to continue riding are encouraged to purchase their own.

Horse Leasing

Want the flexibility of riding a horse but are not quite ready to purchase a horse?  Leasing is an excellent alternative.  For more information, please contact Tosca Kocken to discuss rates and availability.

Cancellation Policy

Twin Rivers requires 24 hour notice to cancel a lesson.  Twin Rivers will not refund fees for any missed lessons.  When 24 hour notice is not given, the student forfeits the right to make up that lesson.  When 24 hour notice is given, the lesson can be made up on specific days and times.  The makeup lesson must be scheduled within 2 weeks of the original lesson.  Makeup classes CANNOT be rescheduled.

Horse Council of BC Membership/Insurance

The Horse Council of BC is a membership driven not-for-profit association representing the interests of the equine industry in all sectors throughout British Columbia.  Membership in this organization is strongly recommended and also provides extra insurance.  Please see www.hcbc.ca for further details.

RIDING LESSONS

Group Lesson Program (35 weeks)

Our group lessons are offered at 4 different skill levels guided by the fundamentals of the  Equine Canada Rider levels.    This program has been designed to teach our students essential horsemanship skills and is required for all students new to Twin Rivers, regardless of their riding level and experience.  Upon completion of the program, students are encouraged to advance to our private lessons with the option to lease or purchase a horse.  Of course, clients may also elect to stay in the Riding Academy program.
